Senior Communications Strategist | Fact-Checker | Board Member, AMEJA | Co-Founder, Mada Masr
Over 16 years, I've moved from high-stakes reporting to leading communications strategy for organizations that need to build lasting trust with audiences and the press. I started covering the Arab Spring for the Financial Times, The Guardian and Egypt Independent. But the turning point came at Egypt Independent, when management tried to censor our team and shut us down. We didn't walk away. We launched a digital final issue that went viral, then co-founded Mada Masr, which became Egypt's leading independent outlet. That was my first lesson in organizational strategy. From there I moved into strategic communications at TIMEP, Just Vision, and 350.org, then into editorial, producing, and fact-checking strategy for podcast houses including Wondery, Audible and TED, working on seasons reaching 10M+ monthly listeners. I currently fact-check for The New Yorker and Campside Media (in partnership with Audible) on investigative projects. Today I work with organizations that have something important to say and need help making sure it lands with the press, with the public, and with the people who have the power to act on it. I also serve on the board of the Arab and Middle East Journalists Association (AMEJA). I also have an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS, University of London, and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. Trilingual: Arabic, English, Italian.

Senior Copywriter | shannonlaynesigler@gmail.com
WHO I AM🦋 A creative writer and intuitive storyteller. Obsessive reader. Mama most of all. Endlessly curious, occasionally impatient, a professional chit-chatter, optimistic, and adaptable. STUFF I'VE WRITTEN: Marketing, brand, and member experience messaging for B2C and B2B tech (Google, Dropbox), telecom, SaaS, FinTech, and healthcare industries. Product launches, performance marketing, user experience and onboarding flow, brand reimagining, and everything in between. If you’d like more examples: Web (landing pages, product pages, etc.) and email (leads acquisition, feature awareness, winback, retention, member communications) social, ads, OOH, blog, editorial, video, brochures and white papers, direct mail, SMS, and just about anything else. In-app copy and notifications, service emails, purchase and cart flow, and more. LIKES: Collaborating with designers. Writing fast. Testing a lot. Being fun to work with. Writing for new and/or familiar channels. Writing with empathy and a human touch. DISLIKES: Slow talkers. Gray flooring. Mosquitoes. I'm one of those people they find delicious. If you’ve read all that and want to connect, I’m all ears! I love to meet new people and teams and tackle your biggest obstacles and goals head-on, with resonant messaging and an all-weather good attitude.✨
