Mike Findlay-Agnew FRSA

Journalist & writer, third sector CEO, transformational coach, equalities advocate

I am a Scottish-based journalist & writer, charity CEO, and transformational coach. Currently, I am CEO of the International Network of Street Papers (INSP) an organisation born out of the Big Issue, and operating a global newswire service. My passion is about the role that journalism has in its ability to change lives, create opportunities and challenge perceptions. Most of my writing is centred on social justice, equalities, and mental heath. I have published in a number of national news outlets including the Thomson Reuters Foundation, The Times, The Scotsman, amongst other publications. My autobiographic short story, 'The Janets', is a coming-of-age short story set in the mid-90s in Glasgow and Stirling and was published in 'Writing Our Space - An LGBTQ+ Anthology' by the Arkbound Foundation. I am an experienced book reviewer. I also write features about people and organisations who do inspiring work in the charity/communities sector. Having built a successful career in over the last 20 years in the public and third sectors, working in both London and Scotland, I have developed my writing portfolio over the years. I'm happy to be approached about ideas for writing and projects. Below is a selection of writing by myself, and articles about my work projects that I have contributed to.

Laura Martin

Science Writer

Hiya, I'm a freelance science writer based in Scotland. My work covers all things space, including astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, space exploration, human spaceflight and more. I also enjoy exploring stories where space intersects with other areas in science and nature, such as the effects of light pollution (e.g., on wildlife) and the preservation of dark skies. 🔭 I hold a master's (MSc) degree in Observational Astrophysics (distinction) from Liverpool John Moores University. My background in science means I value factual accuracy. I provide thorough and extensive research, fact-checking and proofreading. 📚Upcoming book: Title TBA, The Child's World, Spring 2027 My writing has been published in The Week Junior Science+Nature magazine for kids. I was also the guest space expert on their Mysteries of Science podcast episode "What killed Venus?". The listener is invited to become an interplanetary detective! (https://www.funkidslive.com/podcast/mysteries/) I strive to create STEM content that’s informative but also engaging because it should be fun! One of my main motivations is to make content that is accessible and inclusive because STEM is for everyone. As a Lightyear Foundation role model, I shared my experiences (including struggles) from when I was a science student. I then gave my top tips for a disabled young person interested in STEM as a career. I have previous experience with SpaceCareers.uk as a content writer and editor. I helped to develop space career-orientated resources for young people, early-career professionals and career changers. I'm open to commissions, and I'd love to collaborate on exciting projects. Feel free to get in touch! 🚀 Bluesky: @laura-martin.bsky.social
