Shameless Sociology: Critical Perspectives on a Popular Television Series - Cambridge Scholars Publishing
I am Professor of Sociology at the University of West Georgia. I teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the following areas: emotion, social psychology, deviance, research methods, and statistics.
I have published research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Social Psychology Quarterly, Deviant Behavior, and Journal of GLBT Family Studies. My research is generally focused on how members of subgroups give distinct meaning to the elements of their social environment (e.g., role identities, behaviors, and interaction settings). I have conducted research in the jamband music scene as well as in the area of same-sex parenting.
I've published two books: Where the Music Takes You: The Social Psychology of Music Subcultures (2014) and a volume of essays titled Shameless Sociology: Critical Perspectives on a Popular Television Series, (co-edited with my colleague Dr. Jennifer Beggs Weber), which was released in late 2020.
