Méndez González is an award-winning climate change investigative reporter for Puerto Rico's Center for Investigative Journalism through Report for America. He is a passionate, data-driven investigative multimedia reporter with an interest in stories about Puerto Rico, where he was born and raised. His dedication has led him to work with award-winning investigative teams, such as the Miami Herald's I-Team and El Nuevo Día's Facts & Investigative Unit. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Information Design and Data Visualization from Northeastern University.

Last year, he was recognized as the author of the Best Multimedia Investigation of the Year and named Best Environmental Reporter by the Overseas Press Club of Puerto Rico. He was also awarded a Diversity Fellowship with the diversity group The Uproot Project and an Environmental Justice Fellowship with the international nonprofit Climate Tracker.

Méndez González es un periodista investigativo en temas de cambio climático y posdesastre para el Centro de Periodismo Investigativo. Es un periodista multimedia, de investigación y de datos apasionado, interesado en historias sobre Puerto Rico, donde nació y creció. Gracias a su dedicación, ha trabajado con equipos investigativos galardonados como el Miami Herald I-Team y la Unidad de Datos e Investigación de El Nuevo Día. Obtuvo una maestría en Diseño de Información y Visualización de Datos en la Universidad Northeastern.

El año pasado, el Overseas Press Club de Puerto Rico le otorgó un premio al Mejor Reportaje Investigativo y otro al Mejor Periodista Ambiental. Igualmente, obtuvo dos "fellowships" para periodistas de color y justicia ambiental, respectivamente, con The Uproot Project y Climate Tracker.

Autoridad de Carreteras no ofrece solución para las inundaciones en la PR-64

La construcción del Desvío Oeste en Mayagüez y otros desarrollos comerciales en la periferia, que destruyeron humedales y alteraron la hidrografía de los ecosistemas colindantes al Caño Boquilla en ese municipio, empeoran las inundaciones que afectan continuamente a los residentes en el sector El Maní.

Puerto Rico Highway Authority Fails to Address Flooding on PR-64 in Mayagüez

The construction of the Western Bypass in Mayagüez, along with other commercial developments on the outskirts, has destroyed wetlands and altered the hydrology of ecosystems adjacent to the Caño Boquilla in this municipality, worsening the flooding that continuously affects residents in the El Maní sector.
