I started off in the only major available in the local university (as a single parent at age 30) that spoke to me--multimedia production. Here, I learned to collaborate with a creative team and spent extra time after classes (between work and caring for my son) volunteering on the set of Emmy-nominated live broadcast Homework Express. My tight schedule and the short deadlines helped me to develop a focused mindset and regular communication with other team members to make sure everything was ready for each show. After graduation, I went back to my day job of managing gas stations. As my son grew, I became more determined to further my education so that I could transition out of gas station management and into the creative field always calling to me. In a rather round about way, I learned of video game writing. I was very intrigued and found myself enrolled in The Narrative Department's Game Writing Masterclass taught by Susan O'Connor. Later that same year, I was chosen to participate in ArenaNet's Game Narrative Mentorship Program, led by Bobby Stein. I am very grateful for all I've learned from these experiences and how they've helped me to grow as a writer and creative professional.
Naturally, I always imagine several scenarios unfolding as I daydream. Games are all about redos. I love..love..love redos.
I specialize in characters and dialogue. I'm deeply addicted to exploring the psychological underpinnings of this illusion we call life.
In addition to writing, I also enjoy sound design, especially unusual subject matter and voice over. You can find an example track on SoundCloud here:

This exercise can be found on Twitter. I have included the specifics of this exercise prior to my sample.
The assignment was to write a short story using any piece of art on display at the Butler Museum of Art as inspiration. My original piece has been reworked. In 2022, I changed the format and the costume of the trick-or-treater. Since the piece of art used as inspiration would no longer make sense with this new version of the story, I will leave it unmentioned. I enjoy the challenge of repurposing past work.
