Danielle Ray

Freelancer

Danielle graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in both English and music. She spent most of her time the university writing news and arts stories at The Michigan Daily. She is extremely passionate about both journalism and music, and her dream job would be combining those two passions by working at a music publication such as Pitchfork or Rolling Stone. At the Daily, Danielle also spent three years working on social media. The social media team was created her sophomore year. She joined the team, and she became managing editor of the section her junior year. She worked to improve and expand the section; in doing so, she recruited new team members, which effectively doubled the size of the section, and launched the Daily's now-thriving Snapchat account. drray@umich.edu

Kelley Guiney

Technical writer, content designer, content strategist, project manager

I'm a technical writer and content designer with a background in HTML and XML publishing, headless and conventional CMS, Markdown, GitHub, proprietary platforms and DITA. My recent experience includes startup content design, privacy regulatory technical writing at Microsoft and content development and production for Meta's HR portal and knowledge base. Before that I worked with engineers and product managers to create, improve and produce Azure web troubleshooting and Azure portal self-help content. In that role I helped develop and implement a content improvement process that saved $2.5 million on support costs during its first month of operation. I also served as our team's QA specialist, performing a final review of content before it went live. My extensive experience at Microsoft includes developing and improving help center, support, how-to and privacy content for products including Windows 10, Office, Outlook.com, Skype, Azure, Surface and hardware troubleshooting. I wrote and project managed international privacy regulatory content (Data Protection Impact Assessments, or DPIAs) to document Windows product compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I also wrote and managed the publishing process for the privacy disclosure articles for the original release of Windows 10. My previous writing credits include developing content for multiple award-winning websites such as Seattle's music museum Experience Music Project and the PBS companion website to the Martin Scorsese film series The Blues. For several years I was MSN and Bing's #1 freelance writer in the country, developing concise, compelling feature content to host ads for global brands; our clients included Lexus, Toyota, Hummer, Ford, Benadryl and Kraft. I also served as managing editor for a website partnership between MSN and Dove as part of Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty. In this role I managed six writers on a three-week publishing schedule for original content in the US and repurposed content for markets in Mexico, Canada and Brazil. When MSN's Creative Director handed me the Dove managing editor project he said, "You work SO HARD. Everything you turn in is the absolute best possible quality it can be. You're so much more than a writer." You can reach me at 206-914-3530 or at k.guiney@frontier.com
